Technical Writing in the Marketing Field by Ashley A.

Let’s first start with, what exactly is technical writing?

Technical writing is considered to be a form of technical communication. Technical writing is a style of formal writing used to explain related ideas to technical and nontechnical ideas. Technical writers typical gather information from existing documentation and subject matter experts.

Now you may be wondering, what exactly does technical writing have to do with marketing?

Technical writing is used in the field of marketing communication. Marketing communication is better known as “marcom” in the professional field. Marcom is an abbreviation for marketing communication. “Marketing Communication...are messages and related media used to communicate with a market (Wikipedia).” Marketing communication focuses on the creation and execution of printed marketing materials.

You may now be wondering, what types of jobs are available for someone in marketing communications?

Technology companies are always in need of marcom services. Due to the number of high-tech companies that exist around the world, marketing writers who are able to handle technical material will always be in demand. In the 2008-2009 edition of the Occupation Outlook Handbook from the U.S. Department of Labor, the number of jobs available for technical writers is expected to increase over the years due to the expansion of scientific and technical information that needs to be commutated to a large audience.

Tips for working in a Marcom Environment:

Although you will need to know the environment for our company and product, you will also need to understand the factors that will influence your work on marcom projects. The factors that will influence your marcom projects are:

· Marcom mission and goals
· Activities
· Schedules and budgets
· Audiences
· Media
· Process and players of the marcom project

  2. You have strong supports and a good overall layout, but in the future, I think the italics make it a little hard to read.
